Did your inner voice steal $100MM from you?

It's time to press charges.

Hey there!

Yesterday morning, I was walking my dog Rosy.

Then I caught myself in the middle of a conversation....... with myself.

I had just wrapped up a negotiation with our builder, and I was second-guessing every word. Instead of enjoying the fall colors, I was replaying what I should’ve said in my head.

  • You ever talk to yourself?

  • Or wonder if you're capable of your next big deal?

  • Or convince yourself you're going to screw something up?

You’re not alone.

This is where performance psychology comes in.

The way we talk to ourselves MATTERS!

More than you realize, especially in a high-stakes field like real estate syndication. And according to research, it’s something we can control.

Today, we’ll dive into "negative self-talk."

Why It's Important to Tackle This

Real estate investing is a rollercoaster of emotions as you fail forward to success.

Research shows that roadblocks lead to doubts.

Lump a few setbacks together, and you're wondering if you have what it takes.

This self-doubt affects your decision-making and performance.

But this self-sabotage does more than slow you down.

It destroys creativity, keeps you playing small, and dodges opportunities.

Those moves will bankrupt any company.

But when transformed, your thoughts can become the catalyst you've been craving.

Recognizing and reframing self-doubt can unlock your full potential.

Wouldn't you love to pursue bigger, bolder goals?

Common Solutions That Fall Short

Most entrepreneurs try to "power through" negative self-talk. They tell themselves to just work harder.

"Get over it" or "be positive" won't work.

Unfortunately, this approach backfires.

More stress piles on as negative self-talk gets reinforced. Seeking comfort in polite praise is another defense mechanism.

While it's nice to hear "great job," it's fool's gold. Seeking outside validation is a temporary band-aid to a chronic internal ailment.

Counting on others for recognition is a slippery slope for building self-esteem.

Problem Solved

Instead of "powering through", science suggests creating a mental system.

"Thought Self-Leadership" is a strategy that can help you mold your mental state.

Imagine your thoughts as your employees, and you're the boss. Or better yet - your thoughts are robbers, and you're the sheriff of these parts.

Studies on self-talk reveal that reinterpreting "threats" as "challenges" improves performance.

To make it even cooler, this strategy has a greater effect in high-stress situations.

I don't know about you, but I'd say buying and selling multi-million dollar assets can be high-stress.

Additionally, studies show that you don't have to be a thought ninja to see results.

Merely being aware of your thought patterns yields positive benefits.

Your negative thoughts hate the spotlight.

Action Steps You Can Take Today

Start a Thought Journal

Keep track of moments when self-doubt creeps in.

Writing these down can help you identify negative patterns and triggers.

Awareness is your first line of defense.

Pause It

The next time you catch yourself in a loop of negative self-talk, pause.

Ask yourself, “What’s one small action I can take to move forward?”

Shifting the focus to action disrupts the doubt cycle.

Practice Positivity

It's time to be the boss of your thoughts.

You're in charge, and what you say to yourself becomes law.

Lead yourself with encouragement, positivity, and kindness.

Boost your confidence from the inside out

Over the next week, make any 1 of these systems into a habit. You'll see a dramatic shift in your thinking.

Of course, a huge uptick in performance and pay will follow.

Don't let self-talk be the barrier that holds you back from achieving your business goals.

The entrepreneurial journey is full of challenges, but your brain doesn't need to be one.

Be good to yourself,

Chris
