How FOMO is changing capital raising in 2025

The old-school FOMO playbook is broken.

Scarcity tactics like “We only have 3 spots left!” or “This investment is closing soon!” don’t create urgency.

They create skepticism.

People have seen these tricks too many times. Instead of feeling compelled to act, they feel sold to.

Everybody and their mama adding AI and automations to their funnels. I'm seeing scarcity FOMO everywhere!

It's time to stop pressuring investors and start inspiring them.

Try This Instead: Abundance FOMO

Most people think FOMO is about fear—fear of missing out on a limited opportunity.

But the 2025 way to create FOMO isn’t through showing your abundance.

Investors are nervous.

They're seeking leaders.

Show them how awesome it is to be around you.

Take a look at your "calls to invest" right now. If you're using outdated scarcity tactics, you’re turning off sophisticated investors.

Check out this example:

My MoneyMental Community soft-launched 6 weeks ago to current clients.

So far, we're 23 syndicators strong and growing.

So far, we've had 14 live events, 116 posts, 174 comments, and 1 co-GP partnership created.

We're connecting on a deep level to build our networks.

All while using performance psychology (and getting more 1:1 access to me).

The community won't be public for another 2 months, but we're friends. If you want in at the founder's rate forever, we got you here:

"I love how open and vulnerable people are in here. This is my new LinkedIn." -Kent, fund manager

Here’s how you can add Abundance FOMO:

✅ Share All Your Knowledge—No Gating

Give freely. Share your insights, strategies, and lessons learned and don't hold back. Open up. Be vulnerable. When people see the depth of your knowledge, they’ll trust you—and they’ll want more.

âś… Show Your Track Record of Serving Investors

Especially in a down market, people want to know they’re working with someone who takes care of investors. Share stories of how you’ve navigated tough times and protected capital before. Or share a big loss and how you've learned important lessons.

✅ Listen to Investor Concerns—Then Share Them

Instead of pitching, listen. When you hear concerns from one investor, share them with others. This makes investors feel seen. “A lot of investors right now are worried about liquidity—here’s how we’re addressing that.”

âś… Build a Community for Investors

Most investors are alone in their financial journeys. Connect them. Introduce them to each other. Share stories of other investors in your deals. “One of our investors is using cash flow from this investment to fund his daughter’s study-abroad trip.” When people see that investing with you means joining something bigger, they want in.

âś… Share Your Personal Story

Talk about the obstacles you’ve overcome. The deals that didn’t go as planned. The lessons you’ve learned. Perfection is a turn off. Real is magnetic. The more you share, the more they trust you.

The Takeaway

The best FOMO isn’t built on fear—it’s built on abundance.

âś… Share generously.

âś… Show how you serve investors.

âś… Listen and reflect investor concerns.

âś… Build a strong community.

âś… Be authentic and open about your journey.

People will invest because they fear a life without your investment expertise.

And that’s the kind of FOMO that lasts.

Whenever you’re ready, here’s how I help you:
