The Secret to Finally Getting It Done

(and ending delays forever)

In the past 2 weeks, I've had 27 informational interviews with syndicators.

1 main theme was present in every call.

Here's the story: a person with an incredible life and business feels unsatisfied.

This person has big dreams of personal growth, professional accolades, family trips, and community impact.

They know the end goal. It's vivid.

They can paint the picture.

But something is blocking progress.

Some unseen force obstructs them from getting the tough stuff done.

Does this sound familiar?

You’re driven, ambitious, and capable of moving mountains.

Yet, the most important tasks get pushed to the bottom of the list.

Why?

You’re not lazy. And you’re not losing your mojo.

It’s because the hard stuff is daunting, uncomfortable, and just plain scary.

The Challenge

Even the best of us procrastinate - especially when the stakes are high.

It’s easier to tackle smaller tasks that give you a quick win.

But the big, meaningful stuff?

They get delayed. It’s a paradox—despite your success, you’re avoiding the very things that propel you to more success.

The Psychology Behind It

Procrastination isn’t laziness. Quit beating yourself up.

It’s a defense mechanism.

When faced with a task that triggers anxiety—be it fear of failure, fear of the unknown, or fear of not being good enough—your brain avoids the task to protect you.

Remember, your brain isn't built to make your life incredible.

It's built to make life easy. And what's easier than avoiding tough tasks?

Before you send that thank you note to your brain, know this.

The temporary relief makes you feel better.

But it also reinforces the habit of delay.

And it'll be harder to start next time.

The Costs

Procrastination does so much more than stall progress.

It damages relationships, erodes trust, and distances you from your goals.

High achievers often respond by pushing harder, which can lead to burnout.

Others rationalize their delays.

They focus on unimportant tasks and convince themselves they’re still being productive.

But deep down, they know the truth: the needle isn’t moving.

How to Break the Cycle (layer by layer)

1. Quick Fix at the Task Level:

Beat Task Aversion

Tip: "Eat That Frog"

Actionable Step: Identify the most challenging task you’ve been putting off. Do it right away in the morning.

The science: You reduce mental burden, lower your likelihood of procrastination, and will feel less stressed for the rest of the day.

2. Deeper Fix at the Life Level:

Address Personal Conflicts Proactively

Tip: Resolve disputes early to prevent procrastination

Actionable Step: Schedule open, honest communication sessions with your team. Discuss any underlying tensions or disagreements. Create a culture where concerns are addressed before they escalate into conflicts.

The science: When you're worried about relationships, you procrastinate. Happy wife, happy life works for marriages and investment businesses

alike.

3. Deepest Fix at the Subconscious Level:

Examine Childhood Influences on Perfectionism

Tip: Reframe childhood experiences

Actionable Step: Find early moments that created perfectionist tendencies. When were mistakes unacceptable? How were these messages delivered to you? That's the start of your modern procrastination. Start reframing perfectionism by saying out loud “done is better than perfect.”

Send-Off

You want all the praise, plenty of money, and deep connections. Don't let anything stop you. Not your tasks, your brain, or your limiting beliefs.

Procrastination happens to everybody. It's a symptom, and it's treatable.

What have you been putting off? Get it done right now! And thank me later :)

All the best,

Chris
